Teaching's Dirty Little Secret

I tend to think of substitute teaching as the teaching world’s dirty little secret. We’ve all either subbed or had a sub.  There are good subs you want in your room all the time and there are subs the principal will end up banning. Just as if you’ve subbed, they are great classes where the kids seem like angels and there are classes where you will cry. The majority of classes falling somewhere in between.

The complex thing is it involves two people in vastly different roles. The teacher who may be too sick to make decent plans.  A substitute teacher who may know nothing about the grade/subject.

I’ve created these letters and student behavior lists to explain the day and to give some diplomacy to both side
